The handmade earrings are made of 925 recycled silver from the aid project "Fundación Renacimiento" in Mexico.
Architectural firm UNStudio founded by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos designed the building of the Mercedes-Benz Museum with its unique structure and captivating exterior. In his initial sketch, van Berkel outlined a seemingly basic geometric figure consisting of several loops turning endlessly back into themselves. The floor plan has the shape of a rounded Reuleaux triangle.
The earrings also have the shape of a reuleauxtriangle.

- By Umiwi, Berlin
- Umiwi is a fair jewelry label from Berlin. It cooperates with social projects in Thailand, Mexico and India.
As aid projects normally depend on donations or other external sponsors, Umiwi set out to promote local entrepreneurship and to provide support as trading partner.
In this way, revenues can be assured, hence reducing the dependency on donations.
During intensive conversations with locals and longer stays on-site it became clear that specific knowledge and experience in handcrafting are a part of Thai, Mexican and Indian culture, as well as manufacturing jewellery and accessories. Moreover, some regions abound with renewable natural materials.
That is why Umiwi focuses on accessories and fashion made of natural materials as well as recycled materials.
New production facilities were built, where local experts instruct voluntary trainees of these aid projects.
By means of manufacturing goods, the young founders of the aid projects found a way to spread self-esteem and self-reliance to the project participants. Selling the finished products also generates independent means. So, the aid project can exist independently of donations.
Dorothea Schrimpe found UMIWI in 2011. She is the daughter of a seaman. Since her childhood, she travelled with her father and got in touch with different cultures and countries.
